It has been confirmed that the physiotherapy service in Longford Town is set to remain on St. Joseph's Campus.
Its current premises will house the service temporarily while works are carried out on a different location on the campus.
Locals had expressed their dismay at the news that the service could potentially have been transferred away from the town to Athlone or Mullingar.
This was over a HIQA report, which highlighted concerns that public access to the service was impacting the residents of the nursing home.
Following extensive campaigning by TD Micheál Carrigy and councillors Peggy Nolan and Paul Ross, the HSE confirmed the service is set to remain in the town.
It is expected that the switch to the new location will occur in August.
