Households badly hit last week after missed Child Benefit payments

The benefit was paid over the summer last year due to Covid issues but this year parents were told they'd need a form signed by the school to get the payment.

Roscommon Galway Deputy Claire Kerrane says she hopes parents who missed on recent Child Benefit payments for their older teenagers will receive them shortly.

The Sinn Fein TD and party spokesperson on Social Protection says households were badly hit last week after not receiving Child Benefit for 16 to 18 year olds.

The benefit was paid over the summer last year due to Covid issues but this year parents were told they'd need a form signed by the school to get the payment.

With schools closed for the summer many parents weren't able to get the necessary forms signed and so did not get any money last week.

Deputy Kerrane says the Department has confirmed there was an issue on their side also:
