Hospital inpatient charges to be scrapped from April

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly will ask Cabinet this morning for permission to draft the legislation.

Cabinet will today pave the way for the abolition of hospital charges for adults.

The outpatients charges were gotten rid of for those under the age of 16 last year.

Today Health Minister Stephen Donnelly will seek permission from his ministerial colleagues for changes to law which will see the 80 euro daily charge by public hospitals, scrapped by April of this year.
