It's hoped that the appointment of a new Superintendent to Longford Garda Station will pave the way for greater numbers stationed there.
Tomás Watters will commence his new role on May 25th, transferring from Galway.
He replaces Superintendent Micheal Dorrigan, who has been transferred to the Dundalk Community Engagement Functional Area.
193 new Garda were attested earlier this month, however, none of those were allocated to Longford.
