A status yellow weather alert remains in place for counties in the Shannonside region until midday, while an orange snow, ice and rain warning remains in place for most of Munster
Heavy snow has been reported in Roscommon, Mayo and Galway, with driving conditions said to be treacherous.
Met Éireann is advising motorists in the effected areas to only travel if absolutely necessary.
