Healthcare assistants urge local Minister to 'have a heart' over family members

They protested outside his Department this morning as they're not allowed to bring family members here as they don't make enough money per government rules.

Local Minister Peter Burke is being asked to have a heart for migrant healthcare workers in time for Valentine's Day. Healthcare assistants protested outside the Department of Enterprise this morning as they are not allowed to bring families members here as they don't make enough money per government rules.

Although the mandated minimum salary increased in January, it only applies to new workers and for some it still won't be enough to meet the threshold. Unite the Union spokesperson Michael O'Brien says it's simply unfair on hardworking healthcare staff:
