A Ballinasloe centre for people with disabilities has received a largely positive report from the health watchdog. An announced inspection of St Teresa's Services was carried out in July, the details of which have been published this week. St Teresa's Services can provide respite services for up to six children aged between six and eighteen. The children have a diagnosis of intellectual disability and some of the children also have complex physical, medical and or mental health issues. Inspectors found the staff complement and skill-mix appropriate to the number and assessed needs of children. Staff reported that children and young adults continued to be supported to engage in activities both in the centre and in the local community. Children's and young people's health, personal and social care needs were regularly assessed and care plans were mostly developed, where required. Staff spoken with were familiar with, and knowledgeable regarding the children's and young adults' up to date health-care needs.
