Health department urged to secure funding for oncology unit at Sligo hospital

Construction of a 42-bed ward extension at the hospital started late last year.

The Department of Health has been urged to ensure funding is available for an oncology unit at Sligo University Hospital.
Construction of a 42-bed ward extension at the hospital started late last year.

The development includes a shell-and-core area, designed to support future development of a Cardiology CT unit and an expanded Day Oncology Services area.
Fianna Fáil TD for Sligo-Leitrim Eamon Scanlon says leaving the space idle would be a missed opportunity.
He says adequate funding must be in place:
