County planners have given the green light to upgrades at a local railway station.
Iarnród Éireann recently submitted an application for new facilities at Athlone train station.
Included in the project is the transport authority's proposal to improve public toilets and a new 'Changing Places' facility for people with disabilities.
The plans also comprise the provision of additional fire safety measures and better means of escape at the station.
County planners have recently granted the application with 3 conditions attached.
