Governor of Castlerea Prison to retire from position today

The governor of Castlerea prison is set to retire from his role today.

Martin Reilly has been in charge of the Roscommon jail since December 2009 and retires after serving forty years in the prison service.

It’s expected a formal process will now be established to appoint a new governor at the prison, with Anthony Shally, the current Assistant Governor taking over the day to day running of the jail.
