Fine Gael councillor Gerry Hagan is set to become the next cathaoirleach of Longford County Council.
He's due to replace Councillor Garry Murtagh in two weeks' time.
There are 18 councillors on Longford County Council - with Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael both having eight, and there are two Independents, Turlough McGovern and Mark Casey.
Fine Gael and the two Independents have control of the council.
They share various positions, including cathaoirleach of the local authority.
At the moment, Fine Gael councillor Garry Murtagh is the cathaoirleach.
He's due to be replaced by his party colleague Gerry Hagan at the council's annual general meeting in just over two weeks' time, on Friday, June 19th.
He'll hold the position for one year and will get an allowance of €20,000.
Councillor Hagan, from Killoe, has been a councillor for the past eight years.
