A German MEP is pledging to support Irish farmers' campaign to retain their nitrates derogation - after visiting two intensive dairy farms in Co Longford.
It's due to expire at the end of next year, but Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue wants the EU to renew it.
MEP Christine Singer visited farms in Edgeworthstown and Ballinalee last weekend to see what impact losing it would have.
