Fianna Fáil politicians in the Shannonside region have been reacting to the news.

The presidential election is now a two-horse race, after Jim Gavin pulled out of the campaign.

The Fianna Fáil candidate made the decision to withdraw from the competition after it emerged he owes a former tenant over €3,000.

In a statement, he says he "made a mistake" and is now "taking steps to address the matter".
