Gardaí treating Athlone fire as suspicious

Gardai in Athlone are treating as suspicious a fire at an a apartment block in the town over the weekend.

Gardai attended the incident at Rock Brook Court at around 10pm on Saturday night.

Two women were trapped inside the flat on the first floor and were rescued by fire personnel.

No injuries were reported but Gardai are asking the public if they saw anything suspicious at the Dublin road area on Saturday night between 9 and 10pm to contact them at 090-6498550.
