Roads policing units across the region have been carrying out extra checkpoints this festive season.

An Garda Síochána say road safety will continue to be a priority after the Christmas Road Safety Appeal ends.
The current campaign in conjunction with the RSA finishes on January 5th.

Roads policing units across the region have been carrying out extra checkpoints this festive season.
174 people died on Irish roads in 2024 and this year's figure has already surpassed that.
Sergeant Stephen McDonagh says the target remains the same for members:
