Gardaí have confirmed they are not suspecting an electrocution as the cause of death of a man in the Elphin area yesterday.
Gardaí and emergency services received reports yesterday of a man in his 60s in the Lisphilips area of Ballinameen who was allegedly cutting a hedge and snipped a cable shortly before 1:2opm.
His body has since been removed from the scene to the local mortuary, and the local coroner has been notified.
ESB crews were called following the incident to turn off power in the area as a precautionary measure.
Speaking to Shannonside FM News, a sergeant from Castlerea Garda Station said they do not suspect an electrocution, and are waiting on the findings of a post-mortem examination to conclude the cause.
