The funeral of a popular Roscommon priest is taking place this afternoon.
Tributes have been paid to Rahara native Fr Michael Donnelly, who passed away on Wednesday.
Father Michael Donnelly was born in Rahara in 1939 and was educated in Summerhill College in Sligo.
He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Elphin in 1964, and spent the first two years of his ministry in England before serving parishes in Sligo and Roscommon for many years.
Fr Donnelly retired from the office of Parish Priest in 2018 and later served as Chaplain to the Sisters of Mercy in Athlone.
His prayers of farewell are taking place at ten o clock this morning, followed by removal to St Colmcille's Church in Rathcormac, Sligo.
His funeral mass is taking place this afternoon at 2.30pm, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
