A popular local businessman in Athlone will be laid to rest tomorrow following his tragic death abroad last week. Noel Ryan passed away in Malta after getting into difficulty while swimming at St Julian's Bay on Tuesday of last week.
Members of the Civil Protection Department and the Armed Forces of Malta were called to assist, and Noel was brought ashore but declared dead shortly afterwards. Noel ran the popular Ryan's Clothes Shop on Mardyke street before his retirement in 2014. He will repose at his residence today from 4pm to 8pm, with removal tomorrow morning to St. Mary’s Church for Mass at 12 noon.
