The funeral of a popular local businessman will take place in south Roscommon later this morning. Father of two Damien Kelly, who lived in the Crannagh More area of Athlone, died suddenly on Monday. Mr Kelly was a company director of the family run Athlone business Planalife and was well-known in sporting circles.
Paying tribute to Mr Kelly on social media, Roscommon councillor John Keogh described him as 'absolute and thorough gentleman'. Cllr Keogh added that he was a great community activist, charitable with his time and generous in his business. His funeral mass will take place at 11 o'clock today in Saints Pater and Paul's Church.
