Des Deegan will be buried in Co Meath.
It's exactly 50 days since there was an explosion and fire at Des's house in the Oaks in Frenchpark, on June 18th.
The 72-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and his home was destroyed.
It took several weeks before his remains were released to his family.
His funeral Mass is taking place this morning at 10 o'clock in St Brigid’s Church, Oldcastle, with burial afterwards in Ballinlough Cemetery.
He's deeply regretted by Alice Hetherton, his devoted partner of 35 years, who lives in a nursing home.
