The funeral of former Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Tom Callaghan, is taking place today. He died on Tuesday in Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe and lived in Rathmoyle, Castlerea. He was first elected as a Fine Gael councillor in 1979 and bowed out of politics 20 years later.
His funeral Mass is taking place in St Paul's Church, Kilmurray, at 11 o'clock this morning. His Fine Gael colleague, Drumshanbo councillor Enda McGloin, has been paying tribute:
