The funeral is taking place next week of an Englishman who died after an alleged assault in Ballaghaderreen.

Father-of-three Jorden Newin, from Kent in England, suffered serious injuries after an alleged assault in Ballaghaderreen in the early hours of New Year’s Day and later died in hospital.

Ukrainian Yevhen Shutko, 46, who lives in Co Roscommon, was charged with assault causing serious harm, under Section 4 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act.

A GoFundMe appeal was set up to raise funds to repatriate 39-year-old Jorden’s remains to England for his funeral.

It has raised the equivalent of around €11,300.

Sources said any leftover funds would go to his three daughters.

Jorden’s family say they would like to thank everyone from the bottom of their hearts for their donations.

His remains returned home to Sittingbourne in Kent recently.

His funeral will take place next Thursday, February 12th, at 10am in the Garden of England Crematorium in Bobbing nearby.
