Calls have been made for Longford County Council to seek funding for a Museum of Music Ireland in the former Providers building on Lower Main Street.
The project could be supported by a new €7.5 million Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund, which opens for applications this week.
The museum would be an immersive heritage attraction celebrating Longford's strong links to Irish country music.
A similar proposal was previously submitted to Fáilte Ireland in 2022 but did not secure funding.
