It's expected that concerns over the allocation of funding under the Just Transition programme can be overcome.

In late November, 47 projects across the region were listed for grant aid of over €100,000 each from a €27.8m allocation through the Government's Just Transition fund.

However, it emerged in December that the Department of Environment, Climate Action and Communications was assessing whether 23 projects were to be in breach of EU State Aid rules.

This would have meant that many of the projects which would have required up to 15% matching funds would now need matching funding levels of 40%.

Just Transition Commissioner Kieran Mulvey told today's Let's Talk that officials have been working towards a solution with applicants.
