Funding cut delays 3,000 social homes over cost concerns

2 thousand of the homes were earmarked for areas in Dublin with the other 500 spread between Wicklow, Kildare and Sligo.

Almost 3 thousand social homes across the country will be delayed in their roll out, due to value for money concerns.

Housing Minister James Browne cut off the funding for various projects that were about to begin construction.

Social Democrats TD for Dublin North West Rory Hearne is furious and says the houses were about to deliver on site.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has defended pulling social housing, saying the cost of the homes was too high.
