Debate Continues Ahead of Animal Health and Welfare Bill Vote

The Bill was introduced by Irish TD Ruth Coppinger, and aims to make fox hunting illegal in Ireland by amending the existing 2013 Act, banning not just traditional hunting but also trail hunting and snaring.

The debate has continued ahead of the Animal Health and Welfare Bill, the vote for which will take place on December 17th in the Dáil

TD Ruth Coppinger introduced the Bill to outlaw fox hunting in Ireland by amending the 2013 Act, seeking to ban traditional hunting, trail hunting, and snaring.

It has sparked huge debate amongst politicians and animal welfare advocates.

Longford–Westmeath Senator Paraic Brady has strongly opposed the Bill and told the Joe Finnegan Show he has seen firsthand the problems foxes can cause:

Animal rights activist Nuala Donlon also appeared on the JF Show, saying there is no evidence to justify fox hunting:
