Four additional Gardai will be deployed to Longford Garda Station in the coming weeks.
It's expected the new probationary officers will arrive at the station in mid July following their passing out from the Garda training centre in Templemore.
A need for extra resources has been highlighted by several local Oireachtas members as well as the Community Safety Partnership Scheme in recent months.

Senator Michael Carrigy and Deputy Joe Flaherty have both welcomed the placements.
Senator Carrigy says the new Gardai will work with the more experienced officers and believes a change to the judicial system is now needed.
