Former Roscommon TD says Taoiseach should step down after Fianna Fáil’s poor election result

Eugene Murphy, from Co Roscommon, quit the party last year after serving in the Dáil and Seanad.

A former Roscommon TD is questioning Fianna Fáil’s leadership and future direction following their poor performance in the presidential election.

The election was a disaster for the party, with Jim Gavin pulling out of the campaign after a rental controversy.

Eugene Murphy, from Co. Roscommon, quit the party last year after serving in the Dáil and Seanad.

He believes Taoiseach Micheál Martin should consider standing down as leader.
