A local councillor has welcomed an investment of €150,000 to repurpose a former garda station in Co. Roscommon. Last week, it was announced that close to €1 million had been allocated to regeneration projects across the county. This includes €150,000 to transform the former Garda station in Tarmonbarry into a tourism and community hub. The old Garda station has remained closed since 2012 and is located at the centre of Tarmonbarry Village.
The funding, which comes under the Rural Regeneration Development Funding scheme, will also allow it to become a flexible space suitable for IT training and remote working. Tarmonbarry councillor Tom Crosby explains what's in store for the development:
