A local TD is calling for the state to give newly qualified Gardaí an allowance of 600 euro a month off their rent.
Independent Ireland's Michael Fitzmaurice, proposed this measure as an incentive for higher numbers to join the force.
He was also critical of Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris, claiming he is 'losing the dressing room.'

Fitzmaurice called for further resources to be given to Ballaghaderreen Garda Station, in order to tackle crime in the region.
