Fishing permits for River Suck have been abolished
Just under €30,000 will cover the enhancement of Castlecoote’s Gone Fishing.

Cllr Waldron feels this is great as the area has potential for tourism.

The need for permits to fish the River Suck and its tributaries has been abolished.

A call to scrap the €45 fee was made earlier this year by Roscommon County Councillor Anthony Waldron.

He claimed the requirement of a permit to fish the river was driving anglers and fishing tourism away.

At a recent meeting of the Inland Fisheries Board it was decided to do away with fishing licences on the River.

Councillor Waldron has welcomed the abolishment and says it's a major boost to the tourism offering in the county.
