First-time buyers face 71-year wait for new home in Ballinamore

It's 58 years in Carrick-on-Shannon, 62 years in Granard, 74 years in Boyle, and 116 years in Roscommon town.

It would take nearly 71 years for a first-time buyer in Ballinamore to get a new home in the area.

That's according to a new report, based on current building rates and population data, which is available at onemillionhomes.ie.

It's 58 years in Carrick-on-Shannon, 62 years in Granard, 74 years in Boyle, and 116 years in Roscommon town.

But local Fianna Fáil councillor Marty McDermott says there is significant housing development in the area:
