Garda numbers in the Shannonside have dropped by 2.4 per cent in the last year.
That's according to figures published on the official Garda website.
As of January 31st 2025, there were 374 stationed in counties Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.

144 were stationed in Roscommon with 129 in Longford and in Leitrim, there were 101.
Each county saw a drop a year later.
As of January 31st 2026, Roscommon had 142, Longford's total was 123 with 100 in Leitrim.

The figures come amid ongoing concerns about resources, recruitment and visibility in rural communities.
