Over 100 adults across the Shannonside region were living in emergency accommodation in September.
The figure was revealed in the Department of Housing's monthly report.
The report shows 130 adults across the Shannonside region were accessing emergency accommodation last month.
This includes 74 across Co. Westmeath, 20 in Co. Longford, 19 in Co. Roscommon, and 17 in Co. Leitrim.
Nationally, a total of 16,614 people were homeless -- 5,238 of these were children.
This represents an increase of 261 from the previous month.
While the number of children who are homeless and living in emergency accommodation exceeded 5,000 for the first time in July.
