Women working for Leitrim’s local authority are paid an average of 5.71 per cent more than men, according to a new report.
Leitrim County Council has published its Gender Pay Gap Report, highlighting the percentage difference between what men and women are paid on average in the organisation, irrespective of roles or levels.
The 2025 report shows an average gender pay gap of -5.71 per cent.
Employers with more than 50 employees in Ireland are required to publish their gender pay gap data before the end of 2025, and within five months of their reference date.
Leitrim County Council, and all local authorities in the country, chose 30th June 2025 as the reference date.
The council said: "This doesn’t mean that males are paid less than females for doing the same job, but it does indicate that, on average, females occupy somewhat higher paid roles than males."
