Ballymore continue to progress plans to turn Athlone into Ireland's first green city by 2040.
Developer Sean Mulryan and a delegation from the property group are set to give a presentation at next Monday's meeting of Roscommon County Council.
The Ballymore Group wants to turn Athlone into a green city, with a population of 100,000 by 2040.
In a statement released today, Ballymore say over the past number of months, a programme of engagement has been undertaken with Government Ministers, senior officials, district councils and key regional stakeholders.
They say the development would include the expansion of the Technological University of the Shannon to 25,000 students, a 5,000-bed student eco-village and a city powered by 90 per cent renewable energy.
The statement went on to say that feedback has been consistently positive and strongly supportive with widespread recognition of the need for a bold, integrated approach to regional growth and strong endorsement of the sustainable city model.
Ballymore say the presentation to Roscommon County Council forms an important milestone in this ongoing engagement process.
The statement concluded by saying the council meeting is a key step in strengthening regional alignment and collective ownership of this major national initiative.
