It's hoped that local students with dyslexia and dyscalculia can be accomodated with greater supports.
In 2009, experts suggested to the State Examinations Commission that longer exam times would help these students perform to their potential and not be unfairly punished.
The commission has announced that it's running a pilot programme to test these changes.
However, Galway East Senator, Shane Curley is calling for the changes to be implemented on a permanent basis.
