The EU Agriculture Commissioner says the controversial Mercosur deal could be implemented provisionally - before it's looked at by the courts.
MEPs last month decided to refer the agreement to the European Court of Justice.
It could be two years before this court examines the legality of the deal, between the EU and Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
