There was a lucky escape for members of a construction team this afternoon after an incident involving an electricity line just outside Athlone.
The ESB has confirmed that over 2,000 customers were affected by a major outage following an incident just after midday in the Baylough area.
It's understood that construction equipment came into contact with an overhead power line.

No injuries have been reported and the power has been restored to the area.
The ESB is reminding anyone working in construction and farming to exercise extreme caution around overhead lines.
