The General Manager at University Hospital in Galway says there's no guarantee that serious overcrowding won't happen again there in the coming weeks.
Chris Kane says elective surgeries had to be cancelled on Monday and Tuesday due to the unprecedented amount of people waiting for admission.
She says this is compounding a backlog of patients needing surgery which has built up over the last 18 months because of Covid.

The hospital manager says two wards have been closed because of Covid cases and bed capacity will continue to be a problem.
While the number of people on trolleys at UHG were down to 32 today, compared to 82 on Monday, Chris Kane says the impact on surgical services will continue.
