Over eight-hundred Gardaí assaulted in first ten months of the year

There were 837 assaults on gardai in the first 10 months of this year.

There are likely to be over 1,000 by the end of 2020 - compared to 929 last year, which was 22 per cent more than 2018.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee has condemned the attacks.

And Sinn Féin's justice spokesman, Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny, says action is needed to ensure gardai are safe.
