There can be delays in diagnosing younger patients with early onset dementia.
That's according to Ballygar GP and local TD Martin Daly following the publication of HSE figures this week.
There are 54 people under the age of 50 living with the condition in the Shannonside region.
This includes 25 people in Roscommon, 17 in Longford, and 12 in Leitrim.
