€30 million is set to be spent on an upgrade of a water treatment plant in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Uisce Éireann says the project is at design stage and will be finished by 2031.
It says it will increase production capacity by around 70 per cent - and will supply properties throughout south Leitirm.
