Revenue officers have seized illicit goods worth more than €149,000 in a series of operations, including in the midlands
The seizures were made over the past week, beginning January 26, following risk profiling and intelligence-led operations.
Among the items recovered were 3.5kg of cannabis resin, herbal cannabis, butane honey oil, and other illicit drugs, with a combined estimated value of over €51,000.
Detector dogs Sam and Ciara assisted in identifying a number of the parcels.
Revenue also seized tobacco products and more than 229 litres of alcohol, representing a combined potential loss to the Exchequer of over €7,500.
In addition, 97 counterfeit items, valued at more than €87,000, were intercepted after being confirmed as breaches of intellectual property rights.
Two weapon accessories were also seized.
The parcels originated in countries including the United States, the UK, Canada, Thailand, Spain and Portugal, and were destined for addresses nationwide.
Investigations into all the seizures are ongoing.
