A Westport to Dublin train, carrying a lot of people to the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Co Offaly, has ended in Roscommon.
It's after the train hit a deer outside Donamon in Co Roscommon, after leaving Castlerea at 6.13 this morning.
The train stopped to assess the damage and it was unable to pick up speed.
An alternative train was sourced and is now bringing commuters from Roscommon to Dublin Heuston.
The 05:15 Westport/Heuston service this morning will terminate in Roscommon. An alternative train is being sourced to operate from Roscommon/Heuston.
The 07:08 Athlone/Westport service will operate as a bus transfer - MH https://t.co/CWbrrfcq8A— Iarnród Éireann (@IrishRail) September 18, 2025
