Department of Education under fire as over 1000 teachers needed to fill roles

It's being put down to the housing shortage and cost of living crisis.

The Department of Education's under fire for 'not grappling' with a shortage of teachers.

There are currently 643 primary school jobs advertised on the Education posts website, with 456 jobs on offer at secondary schools across the country.

Labour's Aodhán Ó Riordáin says many children won't now be educated by trained teachers when the new term starts in just a few weeks time.
