There were 100 recorded sexual offences in the Shannonside region for the first 6 months of 2023. The figures released by the CSO covers the Roscommon/Longford and Sligo/Leitrim Garda divisions. The Sligo-Leitrim Garda division recorded 56 incidents of sexual offences for the first 6 months of the year. 24 of these offences were rape or sexual assault with 32 being other sexual related offences.
Meanwhile, The Roscommon-Longford Garda division recorded 44 sexual offences for Q1 and Q2 of 2023. 18 offences were rape or sexual assault whilst 26 were other sexual offences. The number of offences across the two Garda divisions are down by 58 for the same period in 2022.
