Cycleway bridge in Athlone to be officially named after Mary O'Rourke today

Taoiseach Micheal Martin is set to attend the event which gets underway at 11am.

A ceremony to officially name a new cycleway bridge after former politician Mary O'Rourke is taking place later today. The former TD and Government Minister passed away in 2024 at the age of 87.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin is set to attend the event which gets underway at 11am. Local Councillor Frankie Keena says it's an important occasion for the town:
