A local councillor has called on the Government to reinstate funding for the refurbishment of Rooskey Bridge.
Cllr Tom Crosby claims the project was fully funded with an allocation of €1.4 million before it was shelved prior to the 2009 local elections.
He urged the local authority to request that the ministers for finance and environment and the Taoiseach Micheál Martin revive plans for the bridge’s refurbishment.

He says Roscommon County Council spent over €120,000 on design work and obtaining planning permission before the project was cancelled in 2009:
