There's been criticism of local councillors over the handling of an application to house asylum seekers in Roscommon. It follows an application by Noel Whelan for an exemption to accommodate refugees at a property on Goff Street in the town. Planning was refused by Roscommon County Council earlier this year over traffic and pedestrian safety concerns. A group called Roscommon Says No To IPAS has been set up to oppose the move.
